A classic reference work, of interest to collectors of British militaria and those interested in British military history. Red boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations. Shelf wear to top & tail of spine with slight fading to top of spine. One or two foxspots and grubby marks but generally contents clean. Plain dustwrapper with red titles is worn at corners with slight loss, faded to spine and grubby.

Very large format (14.5" x 10.75"). Three quarters leather binding, marbled sides. Gilt title to spine. Elegant, colour floral title page. 49 mounted colour lithographs with tissue guards and accompanying text describing the era. Subscribers list to rear. Edges rubbed and scuffed, marbled sides scuffed. Joints starting to crack but binding still firm and tight. Subscribers list is MISSING from the rear. All plates present, some have a few small foxspots. Overall a nice copy of a scarce item.

Gilt decorative borders to covers. Hand-coloured vignette to title page plus 60 hand-coloured engraved plates. A fascinating glimpse of Britain at the very beginning of the 19th century. All plates present and in very good condition. Front endpaper professionally repaired at top corner. Small inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Some text pages browned by offsetting from plates. One text page is detached, browned and slightly chipped at edge. Armorial bookplate of Philip Davies Cooke, who was Sheriff of Flintshire, to front pastedown. Overall a handsome copy of this scarce book.

Red cloth boards. New, grey marbled endpapers. Leather binding nice and clean. Slight mottling to vertical edge of cloth boards. Scattered spotting throughout and a few grubby marks. All plates present. A delightful copy.

Original glassine wrapper present - edge worn and torn with some loss.
