The British South Georgia Expedition 1954-1955 was the first expedition to enter Antarctic regions with mountaineering as its principal objective. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos. Minor foxing to top edge of text block. Boards clean and bright. Light browning to endpapers. Contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is edge torn to lower front with tape repairs to verso (no loss), the longest of these tears is jut over 4" at front spine edge, rear panel is a little grubby.

Front hinge between frontis and title page split, rear joint split, binding is still tight. Endpapers and text block browned.

Endpapers mottled with damp. Front hinge starting to pull, binding tight. Contents clean. Dustwrapper is unevenly browned and worn at corners, rear panel lightly marked. A nice copy of a scarce item.
