From the tiny community founded in the fens by St. Etheldreda in 672, and refounded as an abbey in 970, grew one of the greatest monasteries in England. ISBN: 9780851159454. Spine bumped. A couple of small spots to textblock and a couple of lower page corner tips slightly creased else contents fine. Dustwrapper is slightly creased at edges.

Elaborately decorated blue cloth. This edition follows the second edition, with minor emendations and the inclusion of a new Afterword by the author. Colour illustrations. When book is left open, the top corners of pages bow upwards (not creased). Cornertips of prelims have tiny crease. Else a lovely copy contained in publisher's slipcase which is bumped at one end and a little scuffed.
