Overall a lovely copy.

Lawrence from the time he was a schoolboy, interested in archaeology, until his death in 1935, is recorded almost entirely in his own words: in his letters and in unpublished secret documents and official reports. Brown cloth, gilt title to spine. 896 pages including index. B/w photos and maps, some fold-out. Second impression. Top & tail of spine lightly shelf-worn. Boards have a very slight grubby appearance. Text block browned. A few foxspots present. Price-cut dustwrapper is grubby with a few marks, browned to spine, worn at corners & top & tail of spine.

Franklin Richardson Kendall was born into a family with great naval traditions and joined the P & O Head Office in London. He remained with P & O for 50 years before retiring. This is a collection of selected extracts from letters written to his mother during the tumultous times of change between 1858 and 1866. Large format. Cloth spine, cream cardwraps with black title to front. Tipped in colour frontis of the Ripon leaving Southampton. B/w photos. 89 pages. A few light creases to covers. Covers are a little grubby from handling. Contents clean.
