Edited by Edward Jesse. Full blue leather binding with gilt borders to sides, raised bands to spine with elaborate gilt tooling , red title block with gilt title. Marbled endpapers and text block. 203 Wood engravings. 2 volumes in 1 with b/w frontis to both volumes. Boards scuffed and marked. Front cover detached, contents sound. Small label stuck to front pastedown. Inscriptions in ink to first blank page. Newspaper cutting re: a bust of Izaak Walton dated 1878 tipped in to rear . A few grubby marks to margins. Some browning. A few pencil annotations.
Translated from the french by M. Lewis, H.T. Ryde and C. Kenney. Brown cloth with gilt title to spine and blind stamped decorations. Pale yellow endpapers. 562 pages. B/w fronis portrait of the author. Rebacked with new spine and endpapers. Wear and bumping to corners and cover edges. New endpapers are green (not original yellow). Damp staining to a few pages. Some foxing. A few margin marks. Contents are generally very good.

Green embossed cloth. 40 b/w engravings. Prelims foxed and a few scattered foxspots throughout. Spine browned and a little rubbed at top and bottom.
