King's illustrative style. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. A few scuff marks and indentation marks to covers. Bottom 2-3" of backstrip are MISSING. Some wear to rest of spine. Child's name in ink to verso of front endpaper. Inscription in ink dated 1930 to verso of frontis. Some grubby marks to some pages, with foxing/browning; tiny spots of surface paper damage. Illustrations are still bright.

Very large format. Modern binding; green cloth spine; grey covers with printed title label stuck to front. Illustrative of the science of botany....but more particularly intended to illustrate botanical extracts; or the philosophy of botany. Made up from sections of the author's work: A New Illustration of the Sexual System of Carolus Von Linnaeus. Contains 44 engraved plates; mostly showing specimens viewed under the microscope. Some light wear to cover edges; a bit of damage to home made title label. First 2/3rds of pages have been trimmed, especially to bottom edge; others are uncut; some pages look longer internally than others. Foxing and some grubby margin marks spread to page throughout the book. Damp staining to corners and a couple of edges of pages.

Gilt still bright. Wrapper is browned, with some edge-tears and chips; a bit of loss to spine and corners. Creasing next to spine down front panel.

Large format. Three-quarters leather binding with gilt title to spine and marbled paper boards. Marbled endpapers. Engraved title page plus 30 engraved plates. Engraving by J.C. Allen. Edges rubbed, corners worn with some loss to leather at sides. Boards rubbed/scuffed. Front joint cracked, broken at bottom edge where leather has worn away from spine. Rear joint is sound. Some foxing present. Plate opposite page 149 is torn almost right across at the lower margin of the plate not affecting the plate itself. A few other plates may have small closed margin tears. Most plates have browning to margins of page. It is possible that there is a page or more missing at the end although the book appears to be complete in itself - the last printed page number is 216 and this ends partway through a sentence. Overall, a good working copy.
