Red cloth spine, pictorial front board shows children carol singing. Tipped-in colour plates plus b/w illustrations throughout. Includes 3 colour plates by Wain plus some b/w illustrations. Spine bumped. Corners and board edges worn. Small pieces of paper missing from both front and rear board. Front board lightly scratched. Tiny hole near to centre of front endpaper. A little foxing and one or two marks otherwise contents generally clean.

Spine is split at top and bottom with slight loss of backstrip. Covers a bit grubby. Some joints are broken where backstrip is missing but binding generally firm. Bookplate to front endpaper. 5cm x 1.5cm piece missing from bottom of one page. Large crease to top of a page. Pages a little browned.

Some grubby marks to covers. Spine is bumped. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some foxing. Colouring to some b/w illustrations. Wrapper is edge-torn with over 1" loss to top of spine; price-cut; edge-creased with chips that have some small loss.

Price-cut dustwrapper is a little bit grubby, edge chipped with loss, was torn in two pieces at spine but has been taped together on verso.
