Blue cloth, black title to spine. 251 pages. The First in the Steeley Series, a young adventurer of the skies. REDUCED FROM £800. Two inscriptions in ink to front endpaper. Contained in 2nd impression wrapper (only difference from 1st is rear panel book titles). Wrapper has 2cm loss to base of spine and 3 to 7mm loss from top of spine, loss has been diguised by photocopy loosely laid underneath. Front flap has had price-cut - 2cm diameter hole. Rare to find any copy in a dustwrapper.

The story of Smut, a little black puppy of the Scotch terrier breed and his six-year old mistress. Covers a little grubby. Joints pulled exposing webbing. First three pages starting to detach from top half. Front hinge also pulled. Contents nice and bright. Pictorial wrapper is edge-worn and torn with some loss and has a few marks to rear.

Oblong format. 4 plates in concertina form that fold out to create a large panorama with 14 numbered card figures of cats, and corresponding numbered slits in the panorama to insert the cat figures. On the reverse is a rhyme by Arthur Burnaby with b/w illustrations also by Wain. Concertina folds worn leading to two pages being detached and last page fold fragile but holding. Edges rubbed. All figures present and in place. Light page bronwing. Colour illustrations and figures nice and bright.

Cream pictorial cloth. The first book in the "Adventure" series. 326 pages. B/w illustrations. Spine and corners are bumped and worn. Bottom 2.5" of spine are darkened/damp marked; a few other grubby marks to covers, with a little foxing. Inscription in ink to front endpaper (dated 1944); part of ink name has transferred across to front pastedown. Foxing to endpapers, outer page edges and some page margins internally. Binding is nice and tight. Pictorial wrapper is quite damaged, with front flap at one time being completely detached, but has been stuck back on with browning sticky tape. Bottom 2.5" of wrapper spine is missing and partially repaired with tape. Other splits and tears to wrapper down edges, with a couple of repairs - otherwise, showing signs of chipping. Front panel illustration is still bright (apart from tape). Still a collectable copy of this 1st edition.
