Red cloth, black titles to spine and front cover. 4 b/w plates. 271 pages. Spine and corners bumped and cover edges slightly rubbed. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Textblock is slightly grubby and there are some grubby fingermarks to page margins but contents generally clean. Chipped and torn wrapper is grubby and has loss to spine and corners and also sticky white label repairs on verso.

Page browning, with some foxing; mostly to outer page edges. Wrapper is price-cut with faded spine; large closed tears; chipping, with a little loss; creased.

Hinges cracked. Foxing to contents. A nice copy of the first edition. This copy would make a wonderful gift.
