All plates present, frontis is detached.

Blue cloth with gilt titles. Pictorial onlay to front cover shows girl in red hat behind a tree, with what looks like a snow ball in her had. First story is Mistress Cinderella by Moore. Oxenham story is Peggy Plays a Part. 4 colour plates and b/w illustrations. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Spine slightly browned. A couple of small marks to covers. Joints and a few hinges cracked. Ink inscription to front pastedown. Small bookseller's stamp to front endpaper. Some foxing to contents but generally clean otherwise. 1 plate is MISSING.

First story is When John Took Charge. Serial stories are The Riddle of Roscombe, The Adventures of Fitzie the Marmoset, The Bargees and The Three Bargains. Bumping to spine, corners and bottom of front board. Corners and spine rubbed. Gilt worn to title on front. Name and date to front endpaper. Front joint beginning to crack. Title page removed. Large piece of bottom corner of page 33/34 torn off affecting very bottom of illustration and text on page 34. Large closed tear to page 41/2 mended with sticky tape. Some margin tears. Some grubby marks. Neat colouring to a few illustrations.

Biro has been used to outline some smaller illustrations. Biro drawing on reverse of one illustration which does affect a small part of text. Small hole to one colour plate. Some foxing and grubby margin marks.

Paper covering rear joint split for 1" at top and bottom. Nick to outside edge of front endpaper. Dated ink inscription to verso of frontis. A couple of hinges cracked. Brown mark, mostly to inner margins of two pages, one of which is a two-tone illustration page. A few fox spots and fingermarks but generally clean otherwise.
