Repaired margin tear to one plate and page either side.

Splits to spine edges, backstrip possibly glued into place, a little loss of cloth from top of spine. Cover a bit grubby, front cover scratched. Endpapers browned and foxed. Q1441 in pen to front endpaper and small smudge to top corner. Foxing, mainly to text block and prelims. A few marks to contents.

First story is Bastable Cove by Strang. 192 pages Spine bumped, rubbed and darkened. Corners bumped and very worn. Board edges worn. Covers scuffed. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some hinges cracked. Top corner of frontis missing. Colouring to one b/w illustration. Some foxing. Grubby marks to most page margins. A few small margin tears.

Large heavy format. Blue boards with large pictorial onlays to front cover and spine (showing children with barrow of holly). Colour plates plus colour and b/w illustrations to text. First story is Micky O'Connell and the Man in the Moon by Harrison. Spine bumped with small splits to top if spine and larger splits to base of spine, onlay foxed. Wear to corners. A few marks to covers, edges of onlay on front are browned/foxed. Front joint is broken next to half-title page. First three gatherings pulled so feel loose but are still firmly attached. Many hinges cracked. Ink inscription, dated 1926, and name and address to front endpapers. Name and address in child's writing to verso of frontis. A few marks and fingermarks to contents. All colour pages present. Some foxing.

Cream cloth, large pictorial onlay to spine and front board, front board shows boy cooking over an open fire whilst girl is passing sticks for fire. First story is 'The Griffins' by Florence Harrison. Colour frontis shows 'The Brownie Gets His Cream'. Colour & b/w illustrations. Boards clean, worn at corners. Name in ink to front pastedown. A few minor foxspots and light marks to margins. Colour plate "She bore away from the danger" has been neatly trimmed away on bottom margin (about an inch missing) but still bears the title of the plate and has a few small closed tears to vertical edge. Pictorial wrapper has neat inscription in ink to front panel, is edge-worn and has loss at edges. Overall, still a decent copy.

Edited by Strang. Large format. Beige cloth spine with black title and decorations. Pictorial covers. Colour frontis and other colour plates through book. First story is 'Lost, Stolen or Strayed' by Hugh Banstead. Some bumping to spine. Wear to cover edges. Browned rectangle marks to first few pages, including front pastedown and front endpaper - possibly a bookplate has been removed. Names in pencil in belongs to box. Damp marks to rear pastedown and endpaper. Book has been a little repaired. Light surface paper loss to last page, which is affecting text.
