Cream pictorial cloth. B/w illustrations. Blue titles. 327 pages. The fifth story in the Adventure series. Third reprint of November 1949. Spine and corners bumped and slightly rubbed. Rear cover is very very slightly grubby. Inscription in ink to front free-endpaper, name and address in ink to half title-page. Pale splash marks to pages 54, 55 & 57. Contents otherwise clean. Dustwrapper is sunned to spine and slightly worn to spine and corners (minimal loss).

Very good condition.
First trade edition. Dark red-brown simulated leather cloth, stamped in gilt on both front and back covers with differing cupid designs. Gilt lettering and 4 gilt cupid designs on spine. White endpapers. 30 magnificent colour plates, mounted on vellum-like paper with black descriptive letterpress beneath and all framed with elaborate border design in black. Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Small nick to lower edge of rear cover. Heavy foxing to endpapers, prelims, last (blank) page and textblock. A few hinges are cracked but binding is still tight. A few tissue-guards are slightly torn or creased. A lovely copy which would make a wonderful gift.
