A collection of stories about the days when the world was brand new, and the animals were still making up their minds just what they wanted to be. Blue mottled boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations. 72 pages. Spine slightly bumped and rubbed. Light page browning to half-title page else contents fine. Dustwrapper is just a little grubby on rear panel and slightly worn at top and tail of spine. A nice copy of the scarce first edition.

Prize plate to front pastedown (name crossed out). Some fingering but contents generally clean. Last page of catalogue is slightly torn at inner margin.

Red cloth covers with bevelled edges, pictorial onlay of Samuel Whiskers to front. 21 x 16.5cm. Colour and b/w illustrations. 69 pages. Spine bumped, edges rubbed, boards unevenly discoloured. Book is affected by damp with staining and red 'bleeding' to page edges (especially towards the front of the book). Inscription in ink (dated 1909) to front endpaper. Scattered foxing. Text is legible and illustrations are clean.

First gathering of pages is loose. White pictorial wrapper is grubby, creased and edge worn, 1.5" loss to top of spine and slight loss to base, a few repairs on verso.

A Panorama Picture Book of Fairy Stories. Nister book 633. Six stunning three-dimensional stand-up scenes. Large oblong format. Green cloth spine, colour pictorial paper boards. Front cover shows the Babes in the Wood riding on a leaf in the air harnessed to a pair of robins. Green/white floral endpapers. Spine has been rebacked with red cloth. Corners and cover edges are worn. There is some scuffing to the covers. Front free-endpaper is missing. Inscription in ink to top margin of title-page. One page has a large closed tear which has been neatly repaired. From the pop-up scenes there are some flowers missing at the top of the fairy's oar (in the swan picture) and the giant is missing from behind Jack (in the Jack and the Giant picture) otherwise the pop-ups are complete, bright and in excellent working order. The text pages are well fingered and thus a little grubby. A decent copy of a scarce pop-up book.
