Being reproductions of sketches in colour and pencil. Pale blue/green cloth with dark titles and vignette of a flower to front cover. 24 examples (tipped-in plates) in colour and many b/w pencil sketches. Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Spine browned. Some pale page edge browning and endpapers lightly browned. Front joint is partially cracked.

The artist captures the outstanding natural beauty of the countryside around Carlops and the valley of the North Esk river, which lies just south of Edinburgh. He was artist in Residence in the area for 3 years. ISBN: 9781841588346. A nice copy. Pictorial dustwrapper is a little grubby mainly to rear panel.

Fine condition in a nearly fine dustwrapper.
From about 1777 the talented watercolourist Sarah Stone was employed by the entrepreneur Sir Ashton Lever to record the contents of his extraordinary private museum. This consisted of specimens and ethnographic material being brought back by British expeditions to Australia, the Americas, Africa and the Far East. The Lever Museum was tragically dispersed in 1806, and most of its zoological specimens have been lost. Large format. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. Colour & b/w illustrations. Title to spine is 'Sir William Russell Flint R.A. A Catalogue Raisonne'. This is the De Luxe Edition, limited to 1500 copies of which nos 1-500 are De Luxe. Large format. Blue leather binding, gilt title to spine, vignette to front. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Colour illustrations with facing text. End of volume is Flint's engravings. ISBN: 0951154818. Spine is very slightly discoloured/faded. This is copy 334 of 500 De-Luxe copies. Contained in blue cloth slipcase with blue signature label to one side, case is a little rubbed at corners and some glue which holds the cloth to the spineis starting to dry out.

Very good condition.
With original etchings & lithographs, also reproductions of oil & water-colour paintings, pastels, &c. A set of 8 (complete) very large format grey card-wrap booklets with string binding. Each volume has an essay and 6 plates. Eight volumes with light edge0wear and browning to cover edges. All plates are present. Volume III has some foxing to a plate or two and facing blank pages, Volume VII has foxing to pages and plates are foxed on verso of page. Volume VIII has foxing to 1st plate and facing blank page. Some top edges unopened. All contained in a large presentation folder with ribbon clasp, folder is very worn, browned and scufffed, foxing to inside boards, spine is split. A nice, complete set.
