Two books bound in one. Peter is the story of Louis Wain's own cat with b/w illustrations. Teufel is Carrington's dog and is illustrated in b/w by Carrington. Pages: 88 (Peter) + 90 (Teufel). Blue cloth. Gilt title on spine is 'Peter - Teufel'. REDUCED FROM £480. Peter is 1st edition 1892. Teufel is 4th edition 1891. Covers unevenly faded. Corners bumped and worn. One inch split to top of spine. Small marks to covers. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. A few margin marks and scattered foxing. Contents generally clean. A decent copy of this scarce early Wain, rare with additional title.

Name in ink to front endpaper. Rear joint starting to crack. Some hinges pulled. Page 37 has 2.25 inch loss from lower edge, not affecting text or illustration. A few grubby marks to contents but generally a bright clean copy.

Small bookplate and inscription in red ink to front pastedown. Front endpaper missing. Rear endpaper torn with no loss. A few faint margin marks else contents clean and bright. A nice copy of this early Wain title.
