Endpapers lightly browned. Hampshire Education Committee ink stamp to front free-endpaper ('staffroom copy' written in ink below). Foxing to textblock. One page incorrectly cut during binding process resulting in a crease to the lower corner tip and also the page is a little larger than the rest. Price-cut wrapper is worn and torn with some pieces of loss, rear panel is a bit grubby.

Dustwrapper is edge chipped, worn and torn with large section of loss to lower edge of rear panel.

To collect Danish atmosphere for this classic, Harrap's sent Rackham to Denmark for a week in November 1931 where he took "notes & notes for dear life". The resulting studies of cottages, architectural details, courtyards, farm machinery and so on appear in the 12 magnificent colour plates and numerous b/w illustrations in this book. Brick red cloth, gilt titles and decorations to spine and front cover. Peach and white pictorial endpapers. 288 pages.Large format. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Scuffing to covers. Name and address in ink to front free-endpaper and inscription in ink to verso of same. Small margin tear to one page (23) and also to lower margin of plate opposite page 48 (does not affect the illustration at all). Foxing to textblock. A few small fingermarks to some pages.
