Peer Gynt is first and foremost a poetic fantasy, although based on a real person who lived Norway c1800. About his exploits, not much more is known than is found in Asbjornsen's book Norwegian Fairy Tales, in which Peer Gynt's chief exploits lie in the direction of fighting and conqueroring trolls. Admirably depicted by the "Goblin Master" in 12 colour plates plus b/w text illustrations. Brown cloth, gilt titles and vignette to front cover. Cream and brown pictorial endpapers. 255 pages. Slight fading to covers. Spine and corners bumped, rubbed and slightly worn. Library(?) number written to base of spine (839.8). Blue ink stamp of WH to front pastedown. Some light foxing to page edges.
A personal story of the war in North Africa and Italy by General Eisenhower's Deputy, later Commander of the Fifth Army. Maps to endpapers. B/w photos and maps. Boards a little stained/marked. Spine slightly cocked. Name & date in ink to front endpaper. Text block browned. A few foxspots present. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge-worn with a few small chips and closed tears, a little grubby.

Corners are bumped, with wear. Foxing to endpapers, margins and outer page edges. Inscriptions in ink to verso of front endpaper. Wrapper is creased with foxing, some tears and chips/nicks, but minimal loss.
