Green cloth spine. Colour pictorial front board. 4 colour plates. Two-tone and b/w illustrations, including some by Wain. Covers edge worn. Spine worn with split at base. Rear cover is slightly grubby. Name and date in ink to front free-endpaper. Front joint cracked and frontis missing. Ragged edges and margin tears to plates. Some grubby fingermarks to page margins.

Reward plate to front endpaper. Foxing to outer page edges. Some page browning.

Brown cloth spine with dark brown title and illustration, pictorial front board. Colour plates plus b/w text illustrations (mostly Wain but others also). Spine is grubby. Covers are edge worn and also grubby, a couple of small scratch marks to front cover. New endpapers. Some light foxing. Some colouring to some of the b/w illustrations and some erasing as well. There is a musty (tobbaco?) smell to the contents.
