Pale blue boards decorated with SS symbol. Two-tone and b/w illustrations. Spine and corners slightly bumped with slight browning to top and tail of spine. Textblock is foxed at top edge. Dustwrapper is edge worn with pencil (heavy) tick marks to title list on rear panel and patch of surface paper damage to front panel.

Green & white fairy ring to endpapers. B/w illustrations to margins. 101 pages. First story is The Golliwog's Lesson. Spine and corners bumped, a couple of small dents to cover edges. Spine is bumped and rubbed. Damp stains to edge of front cover. Tiny piece of loss to top corner tip of front free-endpaper. A couple of small margin tears to prelims. Light foxing to prelims and textblock. Some grubby fingermarks and some large foxspots to pages but generally contents clean.

Many b/w illustrations on Wain's anthropomorphic animals especially cats. Boards are edge worn with some slight loss of surface paper. Inscription in ink to top margin of title-page (dated 1902). Some small margin tears and one page has a large repaired tear (very neat repair). Small patch of surface paper loss to lower edge of one full-page b/w illustration. Light vertical crease to one page. Generally a very decent copy of a scarce book.
