Small format. Brown cloth with gilt title to spine. B/w frontis. 384 pages plus 32 page publisher catalogue to rear. A series of travel letters. Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Name in ink to front endpaper. Joints cracked. Some pale foxing and light page browning else contents clean. A couple of pages have not been trimmed correctly (binding error) causing the lower margins to be slightly misaligned.

Fair condition.
"A New Collection of Popular Tales" translated from the German by Taylor. 3/4 leather binding with gilt title and decoration to spine. Blue cloth to covers. B/w plates. Spine is rubbed and slightly darkened. Corners are slightly worn. There are a few light marks to the front cover. Both joints are cracked but not broken. Most of the tissue-guards to the plates have been removed. I think there may be an illustration to the prelims missing. Plate to page 200 has been repaired (was in two pieces has been laid down on a white piece of paper) and the last plate has lower corner torn off (actual illustration not affected). There is foxing and fingermarks to the contents. A decent copy overall of this very rare Brothers Grimm item.

Contents are worn and a bit grubby/foxed with paper repairs. Stitching is pulled causing contents to be loose but binding still holding.

Printed at the Minerva Press. Plain brown boards. 240 pages, edges untrimmed. Pull-out b/w frontis of The Empress of Russia's Travelling Equipage. Covers are worn with some chipping of surface paper. Joints cracked but binding still tight. Name in ink to top margin of title-page. Preliminary pages are grubby, there is some foxing to the contents. Considering the age of the book the contents are reasonably clean. This is a decent copy of a very scarce item.

Spine and corners a little bumped, corners slightly worn. Small nick to lower edge of front cover. Small split to spine rear edge. Covers clean with gilt still bright. Attractive pictorial bookplate of Dora Allison on front pastedown. Inscription in ink on front endpaper dated December 1869. Some light creasing to pages and some fingermarks. Two pages have circular black marks to them (pages 88 and 120). A bright copy of a scarce early fairy tale book.
