Blue marbled boards with blue corners and spine. Gilt title and border to top and bottom of spine. Blue decorated endpapers. 192 pages. B/w illustrations including many by Louis Wain. First story is Miss Brown-Mouse. Spine, corners and cover edges bumped and worn. Spine darkened. Covers scuffed. Front joint broken, rear joint holding by a thread. Pencil writing to front endpaper. Creasing to rear endpapers. Some hinges cracked. Margin marks and an odd page tear. A reading copy.

Split to edge of blank page in prelims. A few hinges cracked. Marks to contents.

Wrapper is grubby with edge-creasing and small nicks; a little damp staining along bottom edge.

Spine bumped and faded with small dark mark to centre. Covers edge rubbed. Endpapers browned, small piece chipped from lower edge of front endpaper. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Foxing to page edges. One plate has slight damage to edges, one mount has very slight paper damage to verso.
