Small format. Cloth spine, pictorial boards. Colour illustrations (originally used n the 1883 Almanack). Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Contained in original glassine wrapper which states "The coloured illustrations are the actual first printing of the 1883 Almanack. The Text for the Year 1924 is now inserted". The wrapper is just a little edge chipped.

3 volumes bound together. Attractive three-quarter burgundy leather binding with gilt title and marbled boards. Marbled endpapers. Doctor Birch and The Kickleburys are illustrated with full-page colour illustrations and Rebecca and Rowena is illustrated by full-page b/w illustrations by Doyle. Slight rubbing to cover edges. Front joint is just starting to crack. Light foxing to contents. First editions published in 1849 and 1850. An attractive volume.

Inscription in ink to front endpaper (also states "rebound 1888"). Some foxing and grubby fingermarks to page margins throughout. Front board completely separated from rest of book. A decent copy of this scarce antiquarian children's book.

Comus is the pseudonym of R.M. Ballantyne. Red embossed cloth with gilt title and vignette to front. Eight colour plates. Contains music accompanied by the verse and a short story. Spine and corners worn. Damp stain to lower edge of front cover (4.5 x 1") affects the lower edges of the front endpapers and first 12 pages (including 3 plates - margins only, pictures not affected). Previous owner's name and address in ink to front endpaper. Some light foxing and fingering, a small closed tear and light creasing to front endpaper. Not as bad as it sounds, still a nice copy.
