Blue embossed cloth, gilt title label to spine. Colour frontis (printed by Edmund Evans). 132 pages plus 16 page booklist to rear. All edges gilt. A couple of white spots to rear cover. Spine and corners bumped, wear to top and tail of spine. Covers lightly rubbed. Name in ink to front endpaper. Front joint cracked. Foxing to margins of frontis plate. Some light fingermarks to page margins. Contents generally clean.

Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
This is Patrick O'Brian's first book, written when he was still in school, under his real name 'Patrick Russ'. Red cloth with green titles. Colour frontis, b/w illustrations. Caesar is a cub in the Tibetan forests; it follows his early wild life, how he became an orphan and also tells of his capture and taming. REDUCED PRICE. Spine and cover edges are faded, with some more fading starting to affect front and back covers. Light foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. In 2ND issue dustwrapper with colour pictorial onlay to front. The wrapper is showing browning, to same parts that are faded undernath. A few light marks but complete with no tears or chips.

Colour pictorial boards. Other b/w illustrations. Spine has large parts of surface paper missing. Corners and edges are bumped and worn. Small amount of colouring to a couple of pictures internally. Butterfly sips the orchid pop-up has a few tears - one petal is nearly detached. Horse jumping pop-up is damaged - has a tear and a little loss.

One hinge pulled, a few foxspots and finger marks. 2.25" closed tear to bottom edge of 'up with the lark'. A nice copy.
