Brown leather binding, raised bands to spine, gilt tooled borders to front and rear, gilt title to spine. Volume I 1818, Volume II 1819. Re-backed with inscription to rear pastedown stating such. Vol I joints worn with split to top front edge of spine. Volume II Spine rubbed at edges and split at top and tail. Binding of both volumes is generally nice and tight. Bookplate to front pastedowns. A few scattered foxspots but contents generally nice and clean.

Some scattered foxing and margin marks as to be expected in a book almost 250 years old. A very nice copy of a scarce antiquarian book. Text in French.

Tipped-in manuscript letter dated 1810 on front endpaper. 1 1/2 pages additional handwritten topographical and genealogical information on Scalford tipped-in to first blank page. Spine rubbed with small split at top. Boards slightly spotted. Corners bumped and worn. Blank pages browned, dampstain to last blank page. Contents very clean and bright. Overall a superb copy of this antiquarian history.

Bound in attractive brown leather with gilt titles, vignettes and borders. 30 lovely tipped-in colour plates mounted on cream card with green decorative borders and captioned paper guards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. This is copy no. 22, SIGNED by the author. Corners are slightly worn and covers a little edge rubbed. Spine has been professionally rebacked retaining the original spine piece (which is worn). A few light fingermarks and tiny foxspots else contents clean. A very nice copy of a handsome and very scarce book.
