Minor foxing and browning to endpapers. Front joint just starting to crack from bottom. A few scattered foxspots to contents. Mostly clean.

Cloth spine faded but title still bold. Browning to contents. Bookplate to front pastedown. Inscription in ink dated 1923 to free front endpaper. Plate facing page 56 is detached. Colouring, and pencil scribbles to some b/w illustrations. Hinges pulled, binding is worn but holding. Musty odour present.

Tiny patch of surface paper damage to lower margin of frontis (doesn't actually affect the illustration). Overall a good reading copy of a scarce Wain book.
