Edges rubbed & worn. Joints weak. Free front endpaper starting to split from top. Some hinges pulled but binding tight. One or two margin marks.

A few grubby marks to contents including light stain to bottom corners of last few pages. One colour plate detached with a ragged edge. A few fox spots.

Some surface paper damage to bottom of title page, looks to have been lightly stuck to blank page opposite. Contents very slightly pulled. Light browning to endpapers and contents otherwise clean.

Edited by Vredenburg. 6 colour plates, incl. 2 by Wain. B/w and two-tone illustrations. 128 pages. Heavy crease to corner of rear cover. Chipping and wear to other covers. Couple of splits to spine, with some fraying to cloth. Binding is a bit weak - some pages have partially come away at hinge. Name in ink to front endpaper with tape mark. All plates are present - but frontis has chipping along edge, with some loss and at least one other plate has margin tear. Pages 31/32 and one plate are Detached. A reading copy.

Edited by Vredenburg. No. 1113. Spine bumped, stain near centre. Wear to corners and cover edges. Rear cover is slightly scuffed and has some rippling, some small scratches and marks to covers. Front joint starting to crack from bottom, a couple of hinges cracked. Large prize plate to front endpaper awarded for prize in Raphael Tuck and Sons Amateurs Literary and Painting Competition. Some browning to endpapers. Dark brown stain approx. 1.5 x 1" affects 6 pages at end of book, including one illustration. A few other marks to contents but generally they are clean. All plates present.
