Vols I and III have been amateurishly rebacked in brown leather and the covers are very worn.

Inscription in ink to front endpaper (dated 1942, although printed date of 1938 is on publisher page). Heavy foxing to page edge. Dustwrapper is worn to corners, has a small closed tear to top rear edge, is slightly scuffed to spine and has a small blue mark to rear panel. A very scarce, early reprint.
