A few foxspots and light marks to contents. Small closed tear to lower margin of one page (no loss).

Bound in attractive brown leather with gilt titles, vignettes and borders. 30 lovely tipped-in colour plates mounted on cream card with green decorative borders and captioned paper guards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. This is copy no. 22, SIGNED by the author. Corners are slightly worn and covers a little edge rubbed. Spine has been professionally rebacked retaining the original spine piece (which is worn). A few light fingermarks and tiny foxspots else contents clean. A very nice copy of a handsome and very scarce book.

Covers a little marked. Bumping to corners. Browning to endpapers. Some page edges uncut. Frontis has light corner creases. All plates present.

The title poem, The Ballad of Beau Brocade, tells the story of a dashing highwayman who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Other poems in the collection explore themes such as love, nature, and social commentary. Cream cloth with gilt title to spine. Large paper limited edition of 250 copies (For England). 50 Tissue-guarded illustrations by Hugh Thomson. Numbered copy 75 of 250 copies. Spine is very browned. Some bumping and wear to corners, with a little chipping. Some grubby marks and brown stain to bottom edge of front cover. Foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Name and date inscription in ink of previous owner to front pastedown. A few light margin marks, but contents are still very good and nice and tight.

Engraved and printed by Edmund Evans. Spine very slightly bumped at head and tail, covers lightly browned with a few faint marks. Removal of small (name?) plate to half title page which has caused some light browning to page and verso of front endpaper opposite. Lower 3" of front joint cracked. Light foxing to contents and small circular mark to margin of a few pages. Small erased pencil mark to margin of one page. A nice copy of the first edition.

B/w text illustrations. Spine very slightly bumped and rubbed. Top 2" of spine and a tiny section to top edge of rear cover faded. A few tiny spots to edge of textblock. Endpapers are browned. Dustwrapper is edge torn with tape repairs on verso, loss to top of spine and slightly grubby on rear panel.
